Signs of Spring
Today marks the Spring Equinox. Also called Vernal Equinox or Ostara, this holiday has been long celebrated as a time of rebirth, renewal, and new beginnings. The equinox occurs when there is equal times of day and night and can be a reminder to find balance and equanimity in our lives. With many of us staying at home and without work during these intense times, it is more important than ever to take time to slow down and appreciate the quiet moments we have. Here are some ways we like to connect and welcome in spring.
Get outside and connect with nature. Look for signs of spring. What are the plants and animals telling us about the changes in the seasons? What plants do you recognize and what in your area marks the beginning of spring?
Plant new life. Now is a great time to work in the garden if the weather allows, or to start to make some planters at home to fill your kitchen with herbs.
Prepare a springtime feast with bright colors and fresh food.
Enjoy spring arts and crafts - paint, color, draw, knit.
Decorate your home. Now is the perfect time for spring cleaning and clearing and bringing in new fresh colors and rearrangements to your home.
Meditate and practice yoga - We’ve created a 15 minute yoga practice for you, and a short meditation to help you relax and connect to the season.
Begin something new. Spring is a great time for new beginnings so start on that thing you’ve always wanted to learn how to do.
Make a new spring playlist. If you need suggestions, we’ve got your covered! Take the songs you like from our playlist or any others that you like and make it your own - dance around the house or use it to clean to, create with, or practice yoga to.
We hope you can find some joy in new beginnings with a few of these practices!
Stay safe and connected,
Mia and Larry
