One of the most incredible gifts and deceitful tricks of travel is having time to think. The refreshing expanse that opens in your mind can be filled with beautiful ideas, sparks of creativity, and the rush of awe. It can also be filled with old patterns, self-defeating thoughts, and lies we tell ourselves that prevent our growth because choosing comfort is easier.
The choice to choose to live our lives to the fullest takes vulnerability and courage. Our vulnerable moments have been highlighted by traveling. There have been moments where we were unsure of where our next meal will come from, confused because we didn’t understand the language, sick to our stomachs, exhausted from noisy neighbors or cities. During these moments supporting each other and getting a little help from our resources has been a lifesaver at times.
We have found many inspiring people to listen to and read who help to guide our courage and vulnerability into the type of art that we wish to create. We have spent time reading, listening to podcasts, and watching films to inspire us to be authentic and to share our vulnerabilities. Some of my favorites include :
