House Sitting: A Different Way to Travel

It’s been a wonderful couple weeks in Winthrop, WA and we’re really settling in to our house sitting gig.  We became interested in ways we could keep traveling and ideally check out some places we are interested in for longer stays without the cost of hotels every night.

We are lucky to be staying at a beautiful cabin just outside of the town of Winthrop- a small town with a laid back old Western feel.  As we look after the place, we also have a puppy to hang out with named Auggie Doggie and a very suspicious and shy cat named Sparky. It’s been great getting acquainted with the small town, checking out the extensive network of nordic trails, taking some ski tours, seeing some live music around town, and enjoying peaceful snowy evenings.  Definitely giving this house sitting gig a thumbs up as a way to experience places with a different perspective. There are some that are just for the weekend and some that are for several months. It’s a cool way to check out somewhere you’re thinking of moving or a different take on an extended vacation.

The site we’ve been using to set this all up is Trusted House Sitters.
