Winter Decathlon

What do we do with a day in the Methow Valley? Create a spontaneous winter decathlon of course! We’ve spent the last two weeks house sitting in Winthrop, WA. For those travelers out there looking for a free place to stay in exchange for a little responsibility or pet sitting, check out Trusted House Sitters.

Winthrop sits in the Methow Valley which has North America’s largest network of nordic trails. On Friday, January 24th, they had a free trails day including trail passes, fat bike demos and ski rentals so we decided to take full advantage of the landscape and all 9 hours of daylight. We got in the car as soon as it got light, flipped over an old business card and started writing down all of the winter activities we could think of:

We had a blast challenging our bodies with so many different activities and finished right before sunset and just in time to celebrate with a drink and music at the Old Schoolhouse Brewery. Thanks Methow Trails!
